About this Event

Anatomization of 5G Communications: Network Architecture & Topology

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Familiarity with 5G network architecture is imperative for anyone involved with this groundbreaking technology, even non-technical administrators, partners, and participants. This course approaches 5G network architecture and design concepts from a high level – an easy way for all interested parties to understand the working mechanisms of 5G networks. Topics in this course include a review of cellular mobile communication networks, their components, and architecture, in addition to a deep dive into the technologies that empower 5G's revolutionary potential. You'll also examine how 5G is expected to coexist with 4G during an initial transition period and review some more theoretical concepts involving what are known as protocol stacks.

    Why should you attend?

At the end of this course, you should have a solid recognition of how 5G mobile networks and network communication in general work.

    What to expect?

    Technical Requirements

All BICSI CONNECT courses require an internet-capable device and internet connection.

Java software; Windows 7 or 8; Mac OSx10.6+; Android 4.1 or later; Apple 10S 6.x, 7.x; IE 10 or later; Firefox 21 or later; Chrome 29 or later; Safari 5.1.8 or later; sound card with speakers/headphones for audio (audio not available for all courses); pop-up blockers disabled.

    Who should attend?

This course is ideal for all ICT professionals.

    What will I learn?

After this course you will be able to:

    • Recall the various components of a modern cellular mobile communications network and how they interact with each other
    • Recognize the characteristics and components of a core cellular network and backhaul and the required design parameters for use in a 5G network
    • Describe what a RAN is, its characteristics, some of the technologies used by it, and why it is an important part of the 5G architecture
    • Describe MIMO and massive MIMO as technologies and how they help to enable many of the innovative characteristics of 5G
    • Identify the types of cells in a 5G network and how each type is used within the network as a whole
    • Distinguish between the NFV and SDN and identify how they enable 5G network slicing
    • Recognize what network slicing is and what role it plays within a 5G network
    • Specify how 4G and 5G must coexist during a transition period and how this is achieved
    • Describe the importance and use of a protocol stack in the understanding of networking using the Internet as an example
    • Identify the various components of the 5G protocol stack and the roles they play

    How long is this course?

1.3-hour self-paced course with 90 days from the date of purchase to complete

    Can I earn credit?

Earn 1 Continuing Education Credit (CEC) upon successfully completing this program

    What is the cancellation policy?
